Michigan Pinball Expo, Jersey Jack Pinball,
and Abel Electronics Proudly Present: Pinbrawl XI (11th anniversary!) April. 14th, 2012 (Saturday - 7AM-12PM) Click here to go directly to the registration section Pinbrawl is the ultimate team pinball competition. This year we will be trying something new. Instead of 4 player teams, we will be doing 2 player teams. We decided to go this route for this year as to gain more NEW players to the tournament as it is easier for a NEWBIE to find 1 partner instead of 3 and it will make it easier for people traveling from a distance to connect with another player equal to their skill level. Although the competition in Pinbrawl is as fierce as any other tournament around, Pinbrawl has always been about FUN first. Pinbrawl is the world's only tournament to have featured five different skill levels of play. We break up the field in to multiples of 8 teams per Division. Anyone from Pinball Wizards to Wizards in training has a chance to not only walk out with some great prizes, but as champions. Pinbrawl also stresses this importance by awarding the same trophy sizes for every division (A-E) regardless of skill level. Pinbrawl features a free raffle for all participants. Those who play in the tournament can increase their odds of winning by bringing games to the show for all to enjoy and also by Volunteering at the Michigan Pinball Expo! By doing so, a player will increase their odds of winning prizes supplied by various affiliates and winning the GRAND PRIZE... A BRAND NEW IN BOX Jersey Jack Pinball WIZARD OF OZ EMERALD CITY LIMITED EDITION pinball machine! Through the help of Jack Guarnieri of Jersey Jack Pinball and Gary Monarch of Abel Electronics we are pleased to offer such a grand prize! Many other vendors and individuals have participated through the years and Pinbrawl has been able to raffle off tons of pinball memorabilia each year. The Michigan Pinball Expo has "Best in Show" Awards for those people that bring games to the show for all to enjoy. Even if you don't want to participate, the chance to show off your game(s) and possibly win an award is a great way to get recognized for the hard work you put in to restoring your game. This year we will offer Trophies for best Woodrail, Electrical Mechanical, Solid State, and DMD Pinball machine. We will also award a trophy for the "MOST POPULAR" pinball machine at the show. All voting is done by a secret panel of judges so no "greasing of palms" can take place ;-) Game selection has always been a staple of the Pinbrawl format. Most tournaments are strictly played on post-1992 DMD games, while Pinbrawl has always used games from all eras. Not only does this level out the playing field for the participants, but it allows many old and great games to be used in tournaments for the first time. At the end of the day, Pinbrawl is all about camaraderie. Competitive pinball is usually a solitary sport. Pinbrawl has made it possible to play in a group with your closest friends and meet tons of other people throughout the matches during the tournament. Many players will say that it is the number one reason they chose to attend the Michigan Pinball Expo, so don't miss your chance to get in on the action! Thank You, John Kosmal Pinlicious@gmail.com One NEW IN BOX Jersey Jack Pinball "EMERALD CITY LIMITED EDITION WIZARD OF OZ PINBALL MACHINE" to be raffled off for: playing in Pinbrawl XI. This prize is more geared toward the tournament playing community and anyone who has the fire to become a pinball competitor. The thing that works great about this raffle is that anyone who wants to compete playing pinball can win! Pinbrawl had 5 divisions in 2007 with 160 players participating. I am hoping that number explodes with the incentive of winning a NIB Jersey Jack Pinball Machine and having it not based on skill, but participation. The game will be awarded randomly, but you *must* participate in Pinbrawl to be eligible. The beauty of Pinbrawl is that it has soo many divisions of skill. We rank teams from top to bottom and chop them up in multiples of 8 teams. This allows for very close scoring competitions when players play with their peers instead of C division players playing against A division players. We will rank teams from top to bottom according to skill. We will divide the field into Divisions of 8 teams per bracket. Teams on each side of the bracket will play the 3 other teams on their side of the bracket to accumulate as many points as possible. At the end of the 3 rounds, the team with the most points on each side of the bracket will play in the championship round. (If a tie occurs, the 2 teams tied will have a game drawn randomly and each player will play 1 ball. We add up the points for each team and the winner advances) Once in the Championship round, the 2 teams will play 3 games to determine the champion. (All games will be chose randomly by luck of the draw. Each round both teams will play 1 EM, 1 SS, and 1 DMD pinball machine) STAY TUNED! We have many things planned this year.
